Sagres is my home and I love it. It's where Coworksurf as an idea started and where I wanted community, surf & work to join together in an inspiring place.
Joe - Co-founder of Coworksurf
Whether you're a marketer, blogger, designer, developer, entrepreneur, instagrammer, artist, multi-talented digital nomad or anything at all you're welcome to come, stay, surf and cowork with the incredible people living in Sagres and the Algarve.
Portugal is a new hotspot for coworking, with a variety of tech talent flocking to Lisbon for WebSummit each year. It's encouraging people to move and live here for extended periods and we'd be delighted to show you our favourite region of this incredible country

COMMUNITY
You can also be introduced (if you like) to the lovely, friendly folk we like to hang around with in Sagres. A great community of surfers, freelancers, artists, free spirits and seasonal workers who bring new shades of life to Portugal in this fishing town on the edge of Europe.
If you're passing through the area and want to meet our crew just send us a quick message or join the Western Algarve Digital Nomads Facebook group

FYI This video was filmed before our partner accommodation in Sagres and is intended to show the area and feel around Sagres/South West Algarve and not the specific accommodation.
WORK
The coworking space
Small and social space for up to 4-6 people. Adjustable office chairs, no dedicated skype room but the wifi reaches to the rooms for quiet calls if needed. There's also a few nice cafes in the area like the Laundry Lounge which have heaps of plugs, great vibes, smoothie bowls and the like as well as decent internet
These Wi-Fi speeds are actual results but only for provisional purposes. Like any connection there will be some variation depending on network usage, seasonality and other factors we can not control.
There are a number of providers of mobile data connections in Portugal from MEO, Nos and Vodafone. Vodafone tends to be pretty reliable in Sagres with two nearby towers. Here are some average speeds you might expect, usually more than enough to work from wherever. You can purchase Data SIM cards at Vodafone Lagos and top up anywhere with an app like Ding.
Typical Mobile Connection 3G/4G
20-30 Mbps - Download
5-20 Mbps - Upload

COLIVING
The charming coworksurf partner guesthouse is located right next to one of our favourite (and cheapest) restaurants in Sagres, Adega dos Arcos. Go there and eat sardines or pork ribs and until you explode! Just 10 minutes walking to the surf beaches of Tonel and Mareta as well as all the cafes and bars in the centre of town.

SURF
The coworking surf in Portugal
There are also lots of surf shops in Sagres that do rentals and sales of boards and wetsuits so you can be assured of finding your perfect quiver whilst you're here. Just message us in advance and we'll try to figure something out for you.
There are a number of beaches within Sagres such as Mareta, Tonel, Martinhal, Beliche and there is almost always a surfable wave within a 5-10 minute walk, although for the best Algarve experience and ultimate freedom along this magnificent coast we recommend you rent a car. Sagres is surrounded by beaches all facing different directions. It tends to work in almost all conditions due to the range of spots. Some are quite tide dependent with most favouring mid-tide on the push.
We also like nothing more than to go surfing so you're welcome to use our local knowledge of Portugal and come with us to a beach that's working well on the day. If you're just beginning or you want some extra lessons we know almost all the schools and instructors in Sagres and can recommend some excellent spots and surf schools for beginners.
We can sometimes (if photographers are around at the time) also offer in-water photography as well as beach video and surf photography through a number of freelancers in the area if you're looking to analyse and improve your surfing or just want an awesome picture or video this is a great option.
And if the surf ain't great? Why not try coasteering or climbing instead.

GETTING HERE
We recommend you rent a car for the best experience of the Algarve. However we're very accessible by public transport too. Our closest airport is FARO (FAO) in the Algarve, Portugal but you can also head down from Lisbon on the bus or train to Lagos. If you fly into Faro we recommend using these guys to get here, but we can do airport transfers on request too.

“Sagres is a world class surf spot with having more surf spots within a ten minute drive then a fingers on your right hand. On top of that the community of Sagres is perfect for remote working with tons of cafes to work out of and interesting people to meet. Coworksurf is right in the middle of it all and it is a top notch spot for getting some waves, doing your work and enjoying the local community”
