Working Remotely in El Paredon

On the Pacific coast of Guatemala, you find the sleepy coastal beach town of El Paredon. While Guatemala is famous for lots of exciting inland activities and adventures, El Paredon is the place to go when you want to relax, surf and watch amazing sunsets.

Besides relaxing and surfing, the town also offers a surprisingly fun nightlife and even a weekly booze cruise.

When it comes to working remotely, the wifi in El Paredon is reportedly still a bit spotty, so it's a good idea to pick up a reliable sim card before heading towards the coast. You should probably also not plan full-time work here unless you manage to confirm a good connection with your accommodation.

When you're not working or surfing, you can also check out the Mangrove tour, do some turtle-watching, take a yoga class, and eat plenty of delicious seafood.

Surfing in El Paredon

El Paredon consists of a long exposed beach break with plenty of sand bars producing lefts and rights all along the beach.

From October to April, the waves are smaller and more beginner-friendly. May to September offers consistent and larger south swells that bring powerful waves and on rare occasions even maxes out the break.

Depending on the tide and the season there are long walls and barrels as well as fun white water for beginners.

Getting There

The best way to get to El Paredon is a tourist shuttle. There are shuttles available from Antigua (not to be missed), Guatemala City, and Lake Atitlan (not to be missed either).
