We think the Algarve has got some amazing people and nights out to offer our guests here at Coworksurf. We're a coworking and coliving space in Sagres for people who can work online from wherever they are in the world (digital nomads)
There's always something going on during the main Season of April to October so be sure to check out some of these epic parties around, Sagres, Lagos and the Algarve in general. Here they are in no particular order....
7. Three Little Birds, followed by Altinho - Sagres
Three little birds in Sagres has got one of the nicest outdoor spaces around, with comfy bean bags and plenty of seating. It was opened in 2016 and has really taken off. I'd recommend coming for the ribs night with slow cooked ribs prepared for 24 hours in advance it's a bit of a taste sensation.
Follow this off nicely with a visit to some of the bars around Sagres such as the local fisherman's bar, Altinho. Make sure you can speak a little bit of Portuguese when visiting Altinho. Try the Medronho here it's a local speciality.
6. Mellow Loco, follwed by Grand Cafe - Lagos.
Lagos nights in general can really kick off in a good way and you're guaranteed some fun in these bars. Our favourite itenerary includes these two gems. The first bar, Mellow Loco is an awesome set up by Melvin Lipke. It's got good tunes, pool table, darts board, awesome bar staff and a really good party vibe. We can not recommend starting your night off here enough and check out the photobooth by Memorybox.pt
The next part of this night moves onto grand Cafe where it gets even louder. These guys get some great DJs playing, including Krafty Kuts, A - Skillz, Dub Pistols & Rodney P and Local DJ & founder of The Surf Experience, Toby One
5. Bonfire on the beach
Bonfires can obviously be awesome and pretty chilled affairs with a few bottles of wine, guitars and some crates of beer and there are some amazing locations around the Algarve for a beach bonfire.
Please make sure you start a fire responsibly, in a safe area that's not going to start a wildfire and please take home all your rubbish, we love the trees and we don't want them burned and we love the beach and want to keep it clean.
Barranco beach can be an epic spot for a little bonfire and many people base themselves in their vans here for extended periods. Try exploring the coves around here beforehand on a stand up paddle tour organised through Algarve SUP Tours
4. Pizza Party near Monchique
The Pizza parties are pretty next level, hidden in a sort of community space in the beautiful hills around Monchique. You'll need to join their Facebook group for details and you can start off the night with pizza and end it whenever you want. Expect trance music and some free spirits.
It's good to make arrangements for sleeping in vans or cars as it's not recommended to drive back unless you've got a designated driver and the party can often keep going into the next morning. Bring an open mind with you to this one.
3. End of Season Beach Party, Lagos
This party celebrates the end of the "season" and takes place on Meia Praia beach and usually take place end of August. Ask around closer to the time for dates.
It's got loads of bonfires on the beach followed by great parties in town. The whole community comes out for this one and it's not unusual to see thousands of people on the beach.
2. Meal in Carlos followed by Sagres Bars.
This is a classic Sagres night out and probably one of my favourites as there are so many amazing people around. The best way is by starting off with some amazing Portuguese food and plenty of wine in the delicious Carlos restaurant.
Then you can pay a visit to all of the bars like Agua Salgada, Dromedario and Pau de Pita. Look out for piña records nights as you're sure to get some excellent reggae and dub.
Occasionally the tiny bar opposite the three main bars comes to life and you'll get some unexpected guest Djs, like Mitchywahoo. It also serves some really good mojitos so be sure to try those.
1. Algarve Surf School Boat Parties - Lagos
If you want a proper party make sure you put this one on your must-do list. This party is pretty legendary and happens every couple of weeks in the summer months. It's organised through Algarve Surf School
It features a great sound system, incredible views of Lagos cliff tops and as much drink, food and jumping off the boat as your heart desires.
The bonus party - Shoe Golf.
A once a year event course through Lagos organized by Nick and myself, this course and concept requires shoes to be used instead of golf balls and clubs and takes the lucky few on a journey around the parks and bars of Lagos, clocking up points.
Get ready and keep enough coordination for the final round where a hole in one is required to finish the course. Many shoes were lost on roofs and balconies last year so don't be too attached to the pair you bring.
Let us know in the comments if you agree with our list or if you thnk we've missed something.
