Pulau retreats do health & wellness reatreats on a pirate ship around indonesia, setting off from Bali. We were lucky enough to get invited along for one of their first trips and it was life changingly epic.
So this was our home for the week with Pulau Retreats. An actual luxury indonesian Pirate ship complete with 8 crew, 2 tender boats and a ridiculously cool Australian lady as captain.
It's called the Al Ilkai and it set off from Serangan harbour in Bali This is where we woke up on the first morning. Off the coast of Lombok, near the Gili islands.
The day started with a sunrise yoga and meditation session by yoga teacher Ash. The scenery was incredible and such a peaceful way to start the day feeling amazing.
We followed this off with a bit of snorkeling where we saw heaps of fish & turtles.
We made a stop off at the Gili's for some healthy shakes and a little explore.

Discussing something important
After the sleeping near the Gili's on the boat we stopped off in Lombok to go trekking through some incredible scenery and jungle to some unreal waterfalls.
Into the wild
We learned a bit about the wildlife and vegetation on the way, from cloves to peanuts, cinnamon and some pretty spicy chillis. Our local guide was incredibly knowledgeable and shared loads of information about the area and the history of the place.
Peanuts grow underground!?
It was a good trek for a few hours and involved a fair bit of clambering over objects and out through tunnels which is a great way to stay in shape without realising you're doing exercise.
The local kids here were way too cool.
After the trekking and local indonesian food there was always some time for some unofficial and incredibly fun fitness training too. Like Skurfing...

Tonghui was beyond a natural
We stopped further down the coast of Lombok in the South and were greeted by this incredible island.
So we thought we'd make a little video with the drone to remember this place forever.
The sunsets in this bay were beyond belief. You could see the local fisherman who had created floating fishing stations in the bay.

It wasn't all about sunsets though. The personal training by Chris Papanti and Bradley Werner was intense and really pushed everyone no matter what their level to their peak performance.

These guys are both exceptionally talented trainers in superb physical condition who know exactly how to get the best out of people in a supportive and fun team environment.
The pirate ship docked off an island near a pearl farm and they ran a variety of different exercises around the beach from sprints up stairs, to rope work and a whole host of body weight exercises on an incredible beach with the most ridiculous view
The training was incredibly intense for everyone but the feeling after was unbeatable and being able to jump into a pristine beach to cool off afterwards was really rewarding.
We got an amazing chance to explore a village that's not been touched by tourism and consider ourselves really lucky to have been able to have some time with the guys that live here.
The food was always incredibly tasty and really healthy. An amazing way to detox your body and fuel up on energy, vitamins and minerals.
The staff on the boat were amazing and so helpful and just generally awesome people. Always on hand with a fresh protein smoothie or anything you wanted. We even did a bit of fishing over the side a few of the evenings.
Here's what a few of the guests had to say about the trip
Such an awesome experience and awesome crew to spend it with. Take care until next time
Thanks again for making it such an amazing week guys, it's been unreal and I'm stoked to have met you all. Thank you for making the trip so much fun and such a success. Much love
Pulau Retreats really is the best way to see Indonesia. I miss the pirate ship and all the amazing people I've met. I miss the locals, turtles, monkeys and food. I miss the real Bali and the glitzy Bali. I fell in LOVE with Indonesia and will DEFINITELY be back within the next year.
Looking forward to checking out the new Pablos bar in Canggu and to catch up with newly made friends. Thanks for the memories everyone. This has had to be one of the best adventures I have had in my life. Pulau Retreats was AMAZING. get on it everyone!
